5 best non-popular city walks without the internet: GPSmycity to the rescue + GIVEAWAY

5 best city walks- how to plan without the internet access

City breaks are great, especially when you don’t have many days off. Those little gateways over as little as a couple of days can be full of adventure and memorable moments. Walking, however, often involves a map (don’t tell me you can find your way around without one). I still remember the paper ones that would bend in all possible ways with a little bit of wind. I miss the oldies, I have a kind of sentiment for them but must admit: digital maps sorted many of my problems when travelling.

There’s another thing to always have planned when travelling: the internet data. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s costly or a local sim does not want to work. GPSmycity came up with a solution: offline maps with all the great places that your favourite bloggers and online writers mention. And not only that, you can create your own walking routes in nearly 500 cities in the world.

My 5 favourite city walks

Gdańsk

Europe was made was city breaks and my list of recommendations could go over endless pages. Yes, there are many favourites, like Venice, Rome or Paris, but the coastal city of Gdańsk is too cute and pretty not to be mentioned here. A complex and rich past left Gdańsk one of the most intriguing and charming cities in Europe. So many beautiful places in one of my recent articles on how to spend 4 days in Gdańsk. You can now download this post and use it as a city guide with a map offline.

Cape Town

Ohhh, Cape Town. You are truly a gem. I did not imagine that Cape Town was a walkable city before my trip, but in the end, I walked more than planned. Sure, you might not be able to walk to all the pretty beaches, but all the way from the Waterfront to the Table Mountain and everything in between can be easily done on foot. I spent 4 days walking around Cape Town, you can read all about it in this post.

Baku

Long walks in Baku are deeply written in my memory. It was winter, and crispy air with a ray of warm sunshine was my companion. Baku is underrated and not very well known as a city break destination (and secretly, that’s what I love about it).

Baku is a city that seems to belong to two centuries. Young people enjoy modern clubs, wear trendy clothes and behave exactly what you’d expect from a 21st-century person. The older generations seem to still belong to the Soviet Union times with their on-street-tea-chats and indestructible Lada cars.

Buenos Aires

Step into one of the most vibrant and beautiful cities in South America. I visited Buenos Aires, three or four times so far and it still remains on my list of travel places. Buenos Aires, also known as Paris of South America, is definitely a place that you’d like to walk around and soak its atmosphere. And what’s even better and a kind of a movie-like type of trip is visiting all the traditional coffee places, where famous writers and poets used to hang out. Just download this post to enjoy your walking having a map with all the marked places without worrying to run out of data.

Medellin

A city of Eternal Spring- that is a pleasant nickname for Medellín, a city in the Colombian district Antioquia. The nickname has been given to this city for a reason, thanks to the pleasant climate throughout the whole year and the blooming flowers wherever you look. People of Medellín, paisas (or as they are called Texans of Colombia), create a specific atmosphere in the city causing a big cultural difference from the rest of the country. You can quickly notice their sincerity, culture and friendliness.
