10 reasons to visit Seychelles at least once

10 reasons to visit Seychelles at least once

Every time someone mentions Seychelles, one word pops into my head: a dream. What’s the fuss about this small African country in the middle of the ocean? Apart from the obvious (read: breathtaking beaches), Seychelles is a very interesting place to see; continue reading to see why.

Breathtaking views

Literally, wherever you look, the views are just incredible. From white-sand beaches to hiking forests overlooking the islands. This country is as picturesque as it can get and believe me- the pictures cannot do their justice to the beauty of Seychelles.

Incredible beaches

I have been to many beautiful beaches in the world and I have been amazed a number of times. However, the beaches of Seychelles left a huge mark in my memory and whenever I try to imagine a paradise, Seychelles pop into my mind first.

Coco de mer – bum seed

You can visit many breathtaking beaches in the world, hike rainforests, see pink sunsets, but there’s no other place where you can find the biggest seed in the world and a one that looks so naughty. I rarely buy any souvenirs, but this time couldn’t help myself and came back home with this purchase occupying half of my luggage.

National Parks

I’ve met many people, who travelled to Seychelles that didn’t visit any of the national parks. I went to one in Mahe island that are a bit more demanding with hiking than others, but the walk is definitely worth a visit for the views. I absolutely fell in love though, the Valle de Mai in Praslin, where coco de mer palms grow.

See endangered species

I did not have other photos of animals in Seychelles, but this tortoise was quite an attraction at the beach. What I was really after were not tortoises but some of the smallest frogs in the world. Apparently you can see many of them after rain, but I wasn’t lucky or perceptive enough to spot any.

Relax

What can be more relaxing than long walks on white-sand beach with no one around (I was lucky enough that very few tourists were there at the same time as me) watching perfect cotton candy sunsets.

Beautiful hotels

It’s not surprising that you can find beautiful hotels in Seychelles. It usually happens in places with amazing views, incredible weather and beaches to die for. Besides, it is a sought after honeymoon destination. I stayed a few great hotels in Seychelles, but I’m listing my two favourites below.

Good weather all year

No matter what moth you chose for a visit, you are going to have a beautiful weather. However, apparently the best time of the year is during transition months: April, May, October and November. I went in April and the weather couldn’t have been better. I got a couple of days with cloudy skies and some rain, but even that was beautiful.

Hiking trails

There’s quite a few hiking trails in Seychelles, not very demanding but will keep you busy. My favourite trails are on La Digue island that lead to amazing gems of white-sand beaches.

Lots of opportunities to be active

The previous point kind of gives a slight picture of what you can do in Seychelles if sunbathing all days long is not your thing. Apart from hiking and long walks at the beach, water sports and diving are great options. I personally didn’t like rolex datejust pour des hommes rolex calibre 2836 2813 116300sso argente hands and markers snorkeling in Seychelles (pretty much the only thing I didn’t like) as it wasn’t as abundant as I expected and it took quite a lot of searching to see anything mire than a few fish.

Where to stay in Seychelles

We stayed in a few different hotels on the three island. These are our favourites:

Dhevatara Beach Hotel (Praslin)- we stayed in this hotel 4 nights and it was an amazing experience. It’s specifically designed for

Chateau de Feuilles– this hotel was our last in Seychelles. It’s located on the south end of Praslin on top of a hill with an incredible sea view. It doesn’t have direct access to the beach, but it was our favourite hotel. It’s a complex of small villas with a few pools, a hidden jacuzzi on the very top, and lots of space to explore and imitation christian dior umbrellas relax in peace. The staff working there is the loveliest and the most attentive but at the same time respect your privacy. I don’t remember when last time I felt so spoiled in a hotel. They grow most of their own food, they even have hens roaming around for fresh eggs for your breakfast.

Hot tips

  • Upon arrival buy a sim card at the airport. We got Airtel for 1000 rupees (approx. 40 Euros) with 12 GB of the Internet and some minutes for phone calls. Although Seychelles are quite easy to navigate around, access to the internet and maps on the go helps a lot.
  • Do not hesitate to ask your hotel, tour guides or other locals for advice and recommendations. We got a lot of excellent tips from locals and they were very happy to help.
