Scotland what to see- these photos will show you why you should never go to Scotland

What to see in Scotland? Many people asked me.

Did I mention before that I never got bored with the landscapes of Edinburgh and Scotland? No? My bad. I promise this will not happen again as Scotland deserves many applauses. In this post, most of the photos I am presenting have been kindly donated by a very talented photographer, with the roots a Scottish gal, Kit Carruthers (if you fancy seeing more of his great photos, visit his flickr page). The reason for that is simple: Scotland deserves the best images! Although I think even bad photography wouldn’t spoil its beauty. Well, if you ever happen to be there, you will see! No need for me to keep rambling about it.

So, if you don’t like situations when you lack words to describe something and the only sounds you can produce are ”oohs”and “ahhs”, I have to warn you- keep away from Scotland. Because the moment you land there, it’s not gonna be easy, believe me. I have tried many times and every single time the effect that those landscapes had on me was the same: lack of words.

Top 10 places to see in Scotland

Scotland is a captivating destination full of history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture. I lived there for ten years and never got bored of this country. I believe that it is one of the places that you must visit at least once in your live.

Here are the top ten must-visit places that showcase the country’s diverse charm:

  1. Edinburgh: Scotland’s capital city entices with its medieval Old Town, elegant Georgian New Town, and the iconic Edinburgh Castle perched atop an extinct volcano. Wander along the Royal Mile, explore the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and witness the city’s cultural vibrancy during the Fringe Festival in August (it’s the festival that made Monty Pyton famous).
  2. Isle of Skye: Known for its breathtaking landscapes, the Isle of Skye is a paradise for nature enthusiasts. Marvel at the otherworldly rock formations of the Old Man of Storr, traverse the Fairy Pools, and witness dramatic coastal scenery at Neist Point Lighthouse. It’s best to reserve three days for this trip if you go driving yourself, so you can have a stop at the breathtaking Eilean Donann castle (featured in movies: James Bond: The World is not Enough, Made of Honor or Highlander, among others). It is also worth joining an excursion to the Isle of Skye, they are really good in Scotland and also take three days, normally.

Meet Hamish, the Highland cow. Always friendly, always hungry for two and a hard worker as a photography model. So sad to know that Hamish ( full name Hamish McKay Denovan) passed away last November. He was a resident at the Woollen Mill for almost 20 years and he was 23 years old.
