9 reasons why you can’t avoid falling in love with Buenos Aires

Audrey Hepburn said: “Paris is always a good idea.” And I am saying that Buenos Aires is always a good idea too. This is definitely one of those cities you want to go back to.

This is why you will fall in love with Buenos Aires

1. The Parks

Buenos Aires is heaven for parks. They are big and many. In my opinion this is the perfect city for fussy nature lovers in times when you are too busy for frequent escapes from the modern city life.

2. Río de la Plata

When I went to Buenos Aires for the first time, I was most curios about Río de la Plata. Why? You may ask. Well, mainly because it is so wide that you are not able to see the other side. I needed a proof of that, since believing without seeing was bothering me too much. When I arrived there, I saw nothing more on the other side than water, so the statements of others have been officially confirmed: you don’t see Uruguay on the other side from Buenos Aires. Here you have two shots of Río de la Plata: one with a view Buenos Aires in the background and another one from the perspective of a bird.

3. The Food

If you already read a few articles on this website, you probably have noticed the one that covers food in Buenos Aires. They probably have there the best pizza and ice cream ever! Not to mention sandwiches de miga. As I am planning my next trip to Buenos Aires next month, I am carefully organizing every meal so I don’t miss some of the dainties later when the trip is over.

4. The Tango

Buenos Aires is widely known as a capital of tango. Every year the city hosts a World Tango Championships, where you can watch the best of the best. Many restaurants organize tango shows for tourists, so you can enjoy it during your meal. If you visit La Boca neighbourhood, you will have a chance to watch street tango dancers or even participate. Those of you, who would like to learn this dance, many studios and dance schools offer lessons for all levels.

5. The Alfajor

I mentioned above the food and alfajores are biscuits, so clearly fit into the category. However, thanks to being so special those cookies deserve a special attention. You can see them everywhere, in every shop or coffee place. If you are one of those people who love something sweet as an akompaniament to coffee, there’s nothing better that alfajor. In my opinion the best ones are the ones bathed in dark chocolate with one layer of dulce de leche. For the fussy people, Argentina offers many types of this treat.

6. The Contrasts

Apart from the culinary side of Buenos Aires, the contrasts between different neighbourhoods is another thing I love about that city. Moving from one neighbourhood to another might make you feel like traveling to different towns or cities. Getting to Puerto Madero after La Boca hits you with modern buildings, luxurious restaurants and elegant cafes. You can immediately notice the difference and realize that Buenos Aires offers something for everyone.

7. The Culture

Buenos Aires is a cultural city and a home of many museums and theatres. You probably have heard of Teatro Colón, ranked as the third best opera house in the world. It is also considered as one of top 5 concert venues in the world. Luciano Pavarotti had a similar opinion on that.

Honestly, visiting Teatro Colón is a must when in Buenos Aires and it is really worthy to plan a guided tour as this not an ordinary theatre.

8. The trees

Jorge Luis Borjes brought many trees to Buenos Aires and said that the trees represent the city themselves. And it is probably true. With the variety of trees and their sizes, it is impossible not to notice the difference between Buenos Aires and other cities when we think of trees.

It is not difficult to love architecture in Buenos Aires. With a mixture of mainly French and Italian styles brought to the city by immigrants and modern influences, it creates a pleasant view for the eye.
