5 perfect places to go jogging in Madrid

Madrid is a beautiful city and very high on my list of the favourite cities in Europe. I have probably been there around 20 times and it is my part-time home when I have a break from traveling and visit Europe once or twice a year for a few weeks. Being it a city close to my heart and being able to discover its many secrets and beautiful places, I have decided to make a little list of the favourite places in the city for jogging lovers. Since it is unbelievable hot in the summer I have chosen parks for you where you can train more comfortably.

Use my favourite travel resources to plan your dream trips

  • Booking.com for searching best prices on accommodation.
  • Discover Cars is a great website as they search both local and international car hire services, so you can choose the best deal for yourself. Make sure though, that the company has a good reputation and reviews.
  • Get Your Guide is my place to go for searching and booking tours and excursions, especially when I travel solo.
  • World Nomads travel insurance. I like them because they have quite extensive coverage of different activities.
  • Jack’s Flight Club is a service that can save you hundreds of dollars on flights, it works especially well in Europe.
  • Trivago where you can search and save on hotels.
  • Go City is a perfect site for booking bucket list experiences and attractions all in one to avoid paying for multiple tickets. Easy and saves money.
  • Trip Advisor amazing for good quality recommendations.
  • Skyscanner is a perfect website for searching flight routes and comparing prices.

Parque de Berlin

Small and pretty park with some hills is perfect if you want to make your heart beat faster during your running sessions. The Parque de Berlin is close to the centre, so easily accessible if you don’t have much time.

Parque del Oeste

Rather far from the centre, it is a place mostly popular amongst students. I especially love the paths surrounded by big and tall trees. Nearby there is Rosaleda, a rose garden with uniquely cultured roses from all over the world. It is a perfect place for a run and if you fancy a snack or a refreshing drink after, just on the side of the park there are many bars and restaurants.

Parque Juan Pablo II

It a two-part park divided by a road in a residential part of Madrid. The park is rather new and the trees are still small, it may be really hot during the day in summer for a run, but in the early mornings or evenings, it is quite pleasant to do some exercise.

Parque Juan Carlos I

A bit isolated and a quieter park than others. It is spacious with a lot of green spaces and olive trees that give some shade when the heat falls from the sky. It is also a place where you can find the rising from the ground a hand sculpture, which the fourth from “La Mano” series designed and created by Chilean sculptor, Mario Irarrázabal.

Retiro Park

It is the most popular park in the whole Madrid. You might find it crowded most of the time since as well as the locals enjoying it, almost all tourists coming to the city find it a ‘must’ attraction. There is many paths and spaces to to some jogging, skateboarding or other activities you might like. It is a really beautiful park with many hidden gems and a glass palace, which you can see in the background of the photo.
